Having been born in 1973 Tokyo, Japan, Hiro was a product of the second wave of the punk rock movement. At the age of 14 hanging with his friends he'd had his first exposure to tattoos, and as history has proven tattoos and punk go hand-in-hand. By the time he was 15 despite his association with professionals he was using jailhouse machines to tattoo his friends. When Hiro was 17 he met world famous tattooer Bob Roberts. Hiro was too broke to afford an entire tattoo, but Bob agreed to outline a design for the money he could scratch together. Knowing this was what he wanted to do, Hiro went to Bob in Los Angeles and requested an apprenticeship.
20+ years later and Hiro has proven his worth staying true to his passions and continuing to execute traditional tattoos the right way, playing the guitar and listening to punk rock, heavy metal and country music.
He currently resides in southern California working out of his private studio tattooing and creating merchandise/album artwork for artist such as: (Ed Sheeran, Foo Fighters, The Offspring, Wolfgang Van Halen, Marylin Manson, Valerie Bertinelli, Zoe Saldana and many others along with crafting designs on shin guards for professional soccer (football) players worldwide with Campari.
2024 starts off with the unveiling of a limited-edition collaboration between Sapporo and Tokyo Hiro that will put Hiro's legendary artwork right into your hands.
